Diesel’s sci-fi flick Babylon A.D. gets a trailer

Vin Diesel and Michelle Yeoh in Babylon A.D.Vin Diesel is back, but not in Hannibal the Conqueror (that’s still on tap though). He’s starring in the upcoming sci-fi thriller Babylon A.D. Diesel plays another mercenary, this time named Thoorop, who takes on the job of escorting a woman from Russia to China. The featurette I watched a few months ago for this movie looked pretty good, and director Mathieu Kassovitz (Gothika), has a really good eye. Let’s see if they can bring something new to the material.

Babylon A.D. also stars Gerard Depardieu, Michelle Yeoh, Charlotte Rampling, Mark Strong, Radek Bruna, Melanie Thierry, and Lambert Wilson.

Film Fetish Trivia: Babylon A.D. director Mathieu Kassovitz is also a prolific actor. He played one of the globe-trotting Israeli assassins in the Steven Spielberg true-life thriller Munich. His character Robert, was originally played by Michael York in the 1986 TV movie Sword of Gideon, which was based on the same events.

Film Fetish Trivia: Vin Diesel is also scheduled to revive his Dominic Toretto character for the movie Fast and Furious, due in 2009. Justin Lin (Better Luck Tomorrow, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift) is back at the helm, with a script co-written by David Ayer (director of Street Kings and Harsh Times) and Chris Morgan (Sakura: Blue-Eyed Samurai).
