The TromaDance Film Festival Committee has announced that writer-director Mark Neveldine will provide a very special surprise prior to the panel discussion at the TromaDance Press Conference at the 2010 American Film Market. The press conference is scheduled for November 4, 2010 at 3 pm in the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel Press Room.

Currently co-directing Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Neveldine got his start writing and directing the Jason Statham thriller Crank with his partner Brian Taylor in 2006. Since then, the two have collaborated on such acclaimed films as the Milo Ventimiglia-starrer Pathology and Gamer with Gerard Butler.

Hosted by Troma president Lloyd Kaufman, the TromaDance Press Conference at the AFM has been a key meeting ground for contemporary independent minds such as Jenna Fischer, Fred “The Hammer” Williamson, James Gunn, Mark Neveldine, Brian Taylor, Penelope Spheeris, and, of course – The Toxic Avenger – to converge and discuss the state of the film industry and other important topics.

Inspired by Trey Parker and founded in 1999 by Kaufman, TromaDance is the first film festival wholeheartedly devoted to filmmakers and fans. Unlike most festivals, TromaDance does not charge filmmakers a fee to submit their films. Entrance to all screenings is free and open to the public. The organizers of TromaDance believe that films are meant to be seen, especially when it comes to new filmmakers.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance brings Nicolas Cage back to the role of Johnny Blaze, who’s hiding out in Eastern Europe, before being called upon to stop the devil, who is trying to take human form. In addition to Cage, Idris Elba, Ciarán Hinds, Violante Placido and Johnny Whitworth are attached to star in the sequel to the 2007 Mark Steven Johnson film. Christopher Lambert has been rumored to be making an appearance in the film as well. But he won’t be playing the Devil if he does, that distinction is going to Ciarán Hinds.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance hits theaters on February 17, 2012.
