Well, if the trailer I watched this morning at Nickelodeon Studios is any indication; then hell yes, M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender is on course to be a certified martial arts-fueled action fantasy epic. Unfortunately, most of the world won’t get to watch the new trailer until this Friday, probably attached to Percy Jackson & The Lighting Thief.

Along with the new trailer and a slammin’ breakfast, myself and other members of the press (yeah, I’m not quite sure what made them think to invite me either), watched the Super Bowl Spot, which represents a good “preview” of the new trailer, in terms of story revelations, as well as some screenshots from the two mangas that Del Ray Books will be putting out in conjunction with the film’s release this summer.

Included in the lineup are 10″ and 3.5″ figures of the main characters in the film, including Aang (Noah Ringer) and Zuko (played by Slumdog Millionaire’s Dev Patel), along with life-sized staffs and complete outfits, for you hardcore Avatar: The Last Airbender fans.

The Last Airbender, which also stars Jackson Rathbone, Nicola Peltz, Cliff Curtis, Jessica Andres, Seychelle Gabriel, Shaun Toub, Aasif Mandvi, Randall Duk Kim, Dee Bradley Baker, Katharine Houghton, Ben Cooke, Keong Sim, Ali Khan and J.W. Cortes, will be in theaters on July 2, 2010.

You can CLICK HERE or on either of the preview images to visit my entire gallery on the subject. Please note that none of these figures are in their final form, and are all considered prototypes.
