Charlize Theron (Monster) and Sam Worthington (Terminator Salvation, upcoming Avatar) have signed to star in Spyglass Entertainment’s thriller remake The Tourist, according to THR. Worthington is taking over the role previously meant for Tom Cruise.
The pair will play the leads in the remake of the 2005 French spy thriller Anthony Zimmer, which was written and directed by Jerome Salle. In the original, a female Interpol agent chooses an everyman American tourist visiting France and dangles him as bait in the hunt for a wanted criminal, who’s also her former lover.
Bharat Nalluri (The Crow: Salvation, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day) is directing the new movie from a script by Julian Fellowes, Bill Wheeler and Chris McQuarrie. Filming is expected to start in January.
