According to a news report last year on WENN.com, Anthony Lapaglia was injured on the set of Balibo after a stunt went wrong. The Without A Trace star was hurt after an explosive device discharged into his arm during a scene in which Lapaglia’s character is shot. The device apparently exploded into Lapaglia’s arm instead of firing outwards.

The film premiered on the opening night of the Melbourne International Film Festival, which is currently taking place through August 9th, and will start a limited release later in 2009.

The movie also stars Oscar Isaac, Damon Gameau, Gyton Grantley and Nathan Phillips, and was co-written and directed by Robert Connolly. Balibo tells the true story of war correspondent Roger East (LaPaglia) and Jose Ramos-Horta (Isaac), as they travel to East Timor to investigate the murders of the Balibo Five in 1975 – five Australian television journalists who were killed by Indonesian troops mounting incursions, just prior to an Indonesian invasion on December 7th of that year.
