Fangoria Horror Hits Jersey This Weekend


Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors descends upon the New York area September 29 thru October 1 with a thrilling line-up of top terror talent from both film and television. This fright-filled event takes place at the Crowne Plaza Meadowlands Hotel, 2 Harmon Plaza, with show hours Friday, NOON – 7 PM and Saturday and Sunday, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM.

Fangoria attendees will be able see previews from the upcoming flicks “Saw III,” “Pan’s Labyrinth,” “Ghost Rider,” “Grind House,” “Skinwalkers,” “Black Christmas,” “Wind Chill,” “Resident Evil: Extinction,” “White Noise 2,” “Hellion,” “The Hitcher,” “The Reaping,” “Rogue,” “Premonition,” and more!

In a convention first, FANGORIA RADIO will be broadcast live from the show’s ballroom on Friday night, from 10:00 PM to 1:00 AM on Sirius Satellite Channel 102. FANGORIA RADIO is hosted by Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider and scream queen Debbie Rochon. The broadcast will be free to all convention attendees, many of whom will have the opportunity to participate in this historic horror event.

Celebrity guests scheduled to appear include: horror great Jeffrey Combs, from the “Re-Animator” films, “From Beyond” and various “Star Trek” incarnations; veteran genre star John Saxon, from “Nightmare on Elm Street,” “Wes Craven’s New Nightmare,” Dario Argento’s “Tenebrae,” “From Dusk Till Dawn”; Ron Perlman, much-loved actor from “Hellboy,” “Alien: Resurrection,” television’s “Beauty and the Beast,” “Masters of Horror,” and the new film “The Last Winter”; and Dee Snider, the notorious rocker from Twisted Sister who turned actor/screenwriter on “Strangeland,” bringing the first news on his latest movie and music projects. 

Several star-packed presentations scheduled for the weekend include: “Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning” Panel with stars R. Lee Ermey (“The Frighteners,” “Full Metal Jacket” and “Willard”), Jordana Brewster (“The Faculty”) and Diora Baird (“Wedding Crashers”), plus director Jonathan Liebesman (“Darkness Falls”); “Rest Stop” Panel with actress Jaimie Alexander and writer/director John Shiban (“Supernatural”); and “The Rage” will be previewed with director Robert Kurtzman (“Wishmaster”), actress Erin Brown (“Sick Girl”) and co-writer John Bisson.

More of the fright field’s favorite faces will also appear at the Fango Convention: William Finley, classic genre actor of Brian De Palma’s “Phantom of the Paradise,” “Sisters,” “The Fury,” and upcoming “Black Dahlia”; Robert Joy, memorable actor from “The Hills Have Eyes,” “Land of the Dead” and “The Dark Half”; Lloyd Kaufman, the Troma chief and creator of the “Toxic Avenger” will debut footage from his new epic “Poultrygeist”; Amber Tamblyn (“Joan of Arcadia”), star of “The Grudge 2”; and and Debbie Rochon, sexy scream queen from “American Nightmare,” “Bog Creatures” and “Tromeo & Juliet.”

Additionally, not to be missed will be a number of the hottest independent directors previewing their latest, including Tim Sullivan (“2001 Maniacs”), Larry Fessenden (“Habit” and “Wendigo”), Harry Kümel (“Daughters of Darkness”), William Lustig (“Maniac” and “Uncle Sam”), Mariano Baino (“Dark Waters”), J.T. Petty (“Soft for Digging” and “Mimic: Sentinel”) Andrew Van Den Houten (“Headspace”) and the rising horror directors Mike Mendez (“The Gravedancers” and “The Convent”) and Adam Green (“Hatchet” and “Spiral”). 

Other panels not to miss include: “Header” Panel with author Edward Lee (“Coven”), director Archibald Flancranstin, and actor Jake Suffian; “Hell on Earth” Panel with writer/director Ted Bohus (“Deadly Spawn”), actor Peter Stickles (“Cemetery Gates”) and actress Mary Corinne Miller; and the Avatar Press Panel, with editor-in-chief William Christensen and writer John Russo (“Night of the Living Dead”).

A variety of talented authors will make their appearance during the Fangoria Weekend and include the savage author Jack Ketchum (“Off Season,” “Red,” “The Lost” and “Ladies’ Night”), Philip Nutman (“Wet Work”); Goth guru Voltaire (“What is Goth?”) and John McCarty (“Splatter Movies,” “Thrillers,” “Bullets Over Hollywood” and more.). Plus, author Max Brooks will give us a reading from his epic zombie novel “World War Z.”

A dealer’s room will be filled with vendors selling horror film merchandise. Plus, tons of cool collectible giveaways will be available while supplies last; scores of FREE celebrity autographs will be offered and a prize-filled costume contest will take place.
