
The folks over at QuietEarth posted this trailer the Brazilian martial arts film Beetle (Besouro), and it looks spectacular. Has the feel of Wes Craven’s The Serpent and the Rainbow, but with kinetic martial arts added to the black magic.
Directed by João Daniel Tikhomiroff, Beetle features Hiuen Chiu Kuâ who also appeared in The Matrix and Kill Bill.
Based on the life of a legendary capoeira fighter from Bahia (played by Aílton Carmo), the film tells a tale of a young Brazilian man of African descent in search of his mission in life.
