Spike Lee talks Miracle at St. Anna

Spike Lee recently sat down with Jamaal Finkley of Blacktree TV, and discussed his new project, Miracle at St. Anna, along with his thoughts on the upcoming presidential election and his issues with Clint Eastwood’s Flags of our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima.

I also happened to read a story on WENN News website about how Steven Spielberg apparently acted as a peacemaker between the feuding filmmakers, and helped the pair end their bitter war of words. Lee criticized Eastwood in May for failing to include black characters in his two 2006 World War II movies. The veteran star struck back, telling Lee to “shut his mouth”, prompting Lee to call Eastwood “an angry old man.” According to the WENN story, Spielberg stepped in to mediate, and now the Mfilmmaker insists the conflict is settled.

Lee also mentions in the interview below that Spielberg is about to start shooting a biopic on The Tuskegee Airmen as well.

Spike’s next two film projects include a sequel to his hit Inside Man, which was announced a few days ago, and a documentary on basketball legend Michael Jordan.
