Spy thriller Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy U.K. trailer now online

U.K.’s The Guardian website first released this international teaser trailer for a new film adaptation of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, director Tomas Alfredson’s (Let the Right One In) adaptation of the John le Carre bestseller, which opens in the U.K. on September 16, 2011, and then Focus Features will release the film in the U.S. on November 18th.

The high-profile British espionage thriller stars Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, Gary Oldman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Colin Firth, Ciarán Hinds, Stephen Graham, Laura Carmichael, Simon McBurney, Amanda Fairbank-Hynes, Roger Lloyd-Pack, Konstantin Khabenskiy and Jamie Thomas King.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is based on Le Carre’s Cold War spy novel, and Oldman as protagonist George Smiley, who comes out of semi-retirement to help uncover a mole in MI6’s ranks.

This is the second adaptation of the John le Carré tome, the first being a 1979 UK mini-series directed by John Irvin (The Dogs of War, Raw Deal, Hamburger Hill) and starring Alec Guinness, Michael Jayston, Anthony Bate, George Sewell, Bernard Hepton, Ian Richardson, Hywel Bennett, Terence Rigby, Ian Bannen, Michael Aldridge, Alec Sabin, Alexander Knox.
