Wolverine headed to Japan in sequel and Deadpool headed to his roots in spin-off

According to various reports, work has started on a sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and film’s star Hugh Jackman is also considering a whole boatload of other projects, including the thriller Drive, Personal Security, a new adaptation of the musical Carousel, along with the possibility of returning to Broadway in Houdini.

The Wolverine sequel is to be set in Japan, and will focus on the samurai – Yakuza story line from the original comics, with Wolverine training in the way of the samurai in order to control his beastly nature, while falling in love with the heir to a Yakuza family named Mariko Yashida.

Capitalizing on last weekend’s success of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, it’s also been announced that Ryan Reynolds’s Deadpool is getting his own spin-off movie.

How will this happen you ask, since Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, has been disfigured, had his mouth sewn shut and gets beheaded in Wolverine? One of two “Easter Egg” endings showed Deadpool opening his eyes after the beheading – that’s how.

Apparently the movie will go back to the origins of the Deadpool character, known for his wisecracking nature and talking directly to readers in the comics (knowing he’s in a comic).

So it looks like Wolverine will decapitate more than just Deadpool, and Deadpool will get head, and his mouth, back.
