The Man Who Shot Liberty Vance Centennial Collection DVD coverLegendary directors and legendary stars bring the Old West to life in the latest additions to the Paramount Centennial Collection, riding into town as two-disc DVDs on May 19, 2009. John Ford, a director whose name has become synonymous with “Western”, gathers an ideal cast including James Stewart, John Wayne, Vera Miles and Lee Marvin for the classic tale of Western justice The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. Producer-director Howard Hawks pairs John Wayne and Robert Mitchum in El Dorado, a drama that explores the “dark side” of the Wild West. Launched in November 2008, the Paramount Centennial Collection features some of the most treasured films from the studio’s nearly 100-year history, digitally mastered so they can be enjoyed for generations to come. The two-disc presentations of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance and El Dorado include an eight-page collectible booklet and all-new special features such as audio commentaries, in-depth explorations of the various elements of these screen classics and more.

In The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance director John Ford brings us to the lawless frontier village of Shinbone, a town plagued by a larger-than-life nemesis, Liberty Valance (Lee Marvin). James Stewart plays the bungling but charming big-city lawyer determined to rid Shinbone of Valance, and he finds that he has an unlikely ally – in the form of a rugged, local rancher (John Wayne). The two men also share the same love interest (Vera Miles), but when the final showdown becomes inevitable, one of the two will attempt to get the gunman … but the other one will wind up getting the gal.
