Sci-Fi Wire has posted an exclusive behind-the-scenes image and storyboards from Terminator Salvation, which opens May 21st. The new images include storyboards and a new set image, as depicted in the Terminator Salvation: The Movie Companion book, due in stores on May 1, 2009.

The storyboards illustrate key action from the initial attack by a Harvester robot in the upcoming movie, and the photo above is a wide shot of a wrecked 7-Eleven store built from scratch in the New Mexico desert, where part of the film lensed. The publication chronicles the making of the film, and includes interviews and commentary from the cast and crew, and was authored by Tara Bennett.

The book will be released along with The Art of Terminator Salvation, also by Bennett, a coffee-table book that showcases the film’s creative design, storyboards, photos and production art.
