The full trailer for the Friday the 13th remake is online. And Michael Bay’s hands are all over this thing. I liked the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, but what was the deal with The Hitcher? Marcus Nispel, who handled directing duties on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the norse action flick Pathfinder, is at the helm for Friday the 13th, which should bring some sense of hope to “purists” (well, maybe not the Pathfinder gig).

The new storyline follows a group of young adults, who wind up exploring the original Camp Crystal Lake. Soon however, their seemingly fun weekend turns into a nightmare, as each one finds themselves hunted down by the machete wielding maniac Jason Voorhees (played by Derek Mears).

Obviously, this isn’t a straight remake, since we all know that Jason’s mother Pamela Voorhees, was the killer, in the 1980 original. Although, maybe there’s more to be told about the origins story in the coming remake, as Nana Visitor, who played Major Kira on Deep Space Nine, is indeed playing Mrs. Voorhees, the psychopath who was so distraught over her son’s apparent watery death, that she started picking off campers, in the 1980 film.

The film is scheduled to premiere in theaters on Friday, February 13, 2009, just before the TV transition to digital. It stars Jared Padalecki, Danielle Panabaker, Amanda Righetti, Travis Van Winkle, Aaron Yoo, Arlen Escarpeta, Julianna Guill, Willa Ford, Ryan Hansen, Jonathan Sadowski, Ben Feldman, Nick Mennell and America Olivo.
