Will Smith visiting pharaoh’s tomb

Will Smith is set to play an ancient pharaoh, working from a script by Randall Wallace (Braveheart) called The Last Pharaoh, an epic film being crafted as a vehicle for the actor. In the upcoming movie, Smith will play the pharaoh Taharqa, who battled Assyrian invaders in ancient Egypt. This is according to a story by Variety, who also said Smith has long wanted to play the part, and brought Wallace the story.

The Last Pharaoh will focus on his battles with Assyrian leader Esarhaddon starting in 677 B.C.

Smith will appear next in the film Seven Pounds, which Gabriele Muccino (Pursuit of Happyness) is directing. In Seven Pounds, he will play is an IRS agent who is depressed and guilt-ridden about mistakes from his past, and sets out to make amends by helping seven strangers. Lucky guy gets to fall in love with Rosario Dawson in that movie. Woody Harrelson also appears in the project, as a blind pianist.
