Apple Computer has a profile of the surprise hit Napoleon Dynamite on its website. Twenty Five year old Jeremy Coon made Napoleon fresh out of school on a $400,000 budget. Jeremy also edited the film in his apartment using a $6,000 editing system, that included Final Cut Pro running on MAC G4.
The film tells the story of Preston, Idaho’s most curious resident, Napoleon Dynamite, played by Jon Heder, who lives with his grandma and his 32-year-old brother (who cruises chat rooms for ladies) and works to help his best friend, Pedro, played by Efren Ramirez, snatch the Student Body President title from mean teen Summer Wheatley (Haylie Duff).
After his appearance in Dynamite, Heder snagged a role in next Halloween’s Monster House. That film also stars Mitchel Musso, Sam Lerner, Spencer Locke, Steve Buscemi, Nick Cannon and Matthew Fahey.
