First-Ever Grateful Dead Concert Performance (1965)

The Grateful Dead’s first concert performance under this name took place. The band began life as The Warlocks earlier that same year. The performance took place in San Jose at one of Ken Kesey’s “Acid Tests.” Acid Tests were parties that integrated the consumption of LSD with multimedia performances.
