Afterburn film adaptation heats up

Matt Johnson, who wrote the action films Torque and Into the Blue, has been attached to adapt the comic Afterburn for Relativity Media. The film is being produced by uber-producer Neal Moritz and actor Toby Maguire. This is according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Afterburn, a sci-fi adventure based on books published by Red 5 Comics, is set against the backdrop of a postapocalyptic planet Earth whose Eastern Hemisphere has been wiped out by a massive solar flare, leaving what life remains mutated from radiation. The story revolves around a group of treasure hunters who extract such objects as the Mona Lisa, the Rosetta Stone and the Crown Jewels while facing mutants and pirates.
