Shadow of a Doubt

One of Hitchcock’s earlier films released in 1943 starring Joseph Cotten and Teresa Wright. This movie is very suspenseful and shows why the well loved director is the father of the suspense thriller.

Cotten plays Charlie, a lonely drifter decides to visit his older sister and her family in Santa Rosa California. Young Charlie, played by Teresa Wright is thrilled to see her beloved uncle but starts to notice his erratic behavior and starts looking for answers.

All this takes place while the FBI does a national search for the “Merry Widow Murderer.”

You can try to connect the dots or I could give you the entire synapsis, it doesn’t really matter because it’s not what Hitch does is how he does it that makes this movie a masterpiece. Plus, watch out for the maguffin(sp?).
