Peter Jackson says The Hobbit was ready just two days prior to Wellington premiere

Peter Jackson recently posted a video blog to update the post-production status of The Hobbit. According to Jackson, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which is due in U.S. theaters on December 14, 2012, and just had its World Premiere in Wellington, New Zealand was ready only two days prior to the star-studded New Zealand screening.

The second film in Jackson’s new trilogy is called The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and will hit theaters on December 13, 2013. The climax, titled The Hobbit: There and Back Again, lands in theaters on July 18, 2014. I wonder if a summer finale means he’s saving the best for last, as far as effects, action sequences and storyline.
