Myspace has posted the first trailer for Resident Evil: Afterlife online in HD. The teaser gives a surprising amount of story information, but the most compelling revelation may be that the movie was lensed using the same Fusion 3D Camera System that James Cameron used to shoot the live-action sequences for Avatar. We’ll certainly be hearing much more about the Fusion Camera System, especially with the renewed interest in 3D technology.
Cameron invented the Fusion 3D Camera System with Vince Pace, a director of photography on Avatar. However, this isn’t the first time the the Fusion 3D Camera System Rig has been used. Cameron’s 2003 Imax 3D film Ghosts of the Abyss, christened the Fusion rigs – which can be used with a variety of digital cinematography cameras. Fusion has also been used on such live-action digital 3D titles as The Final Destination and concert films by Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers.
Resident Evil: Afterlife hits theaters on September 10, 2010.
