MySpace just launched the first trailer for Resident Evil: Afterlife on the iPad, helping christen the device’s multimedia hardware muscles. Now comes word that Capcom has launched an exclusive version of the game Resident Evil 4 for the Apple iPad called Resident Evil 4: iPad Edition. The game features a new high-resolution art set designed to take full advantage of iPad’s larger display. The improved graphics capture the Resident Evil world in terrifying new detail, making the gaming experience even more immersive.

At the outset of Resident Evil 4, it’s been six years since the destruction of Raccoon City. Leon S. Kennedy, formerly Raccoon City Police Department’s idealistic rookie cop, is now a U.S. agent with a top-secret mission to rescue Ashley Graham, the President’s daughter. Leon begins his investigation in an undisclosed Spanish-speaking village in Europe, where he encounters a horde of unruly villagers who pledge their lives to Los Illuminados, the cult that perpetrated Ashley’s kidnapping. As Leon encounters unimaginable horrors, he must find out who or what is behind everything.

Since its inception, the Resident Evil series has sold more than 42 million copies worldwide including the recently released Resident Evil: Degeneration and Resident Evil 4 App for iPhone and iPod touch. For the iPad version, Capcom has leveraged user feedback from the App Store and added numerous platform specific enhancements to create what the company calls “the finest portable Resident Evil game to date”.

Additionally, Resident Evil 4: iPad Edition uses an enhanced Visual Pad control system that makes gameplay a more fluid and intuitive experience, allowing players can engage in running gun fights against crowds of enemies, climb ladders, equip binoculars and jump out windows.

Resident Evil 4: iPad Edition is available now from the App Store on the Apple iPad.
