Disturbing new footage released for HBO’s Westworld

HBO has revealed a new trailer for their new drama series Westworld, featuring footage from throughout the first season of the upcoming show, which premieres Sunday, October 2nd. The new footage gives hints about the conflict between a futuristic theme park’s robotic hosts, their human keepers and the unsuspecting park visitors that will be caught in between.

The JJ Abrams’ produced series is based on the 1973 cult classic thriller that was written and directed by Michael Crichton and starred Yul Brynner, Richard Benjamin, James Brolin, Norman Bartold, Alan Oppenheimer, Victoria Shaw, Dick Van Patten, Linda Gaye Scott, Steve Franken, Michael Mikler, Terry Wilson, Majel Barrett, Anne Randall, Julie Marcus and Sharyn Wynters. In the film, an amusement park for rich vacationers provides its customers a way to live out their fantasies, complete with accommodating robots that provide anything they want. Things goes horribly wrong when a computer glitch begins to affect the robots and they start massacring the guests. From the looks of both trailers, the new series is also centered on the Western-themed section of the park, although in the original film there were many sections, although they were only hinted at.

The HBO series stars Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Jimmi Simpson, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Ben Barnes, Simon Quarterman, Angela Sarafyan, Luke Hemsworth, Clifton Collins Jr., Evelyn Alisha Genevicia, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Mike Watson, Oliver Bell, Bradley Fisher, Louis Herthum, James Landry Hébert, Jeff Daniel Phillips and Jamie Soricelli.
