Pam Grier retrospective tonight on MGM HD

Tonight MGM HD will present a short Pam Grier Retrospective, featuring screenings of her cult classic films Sheba, Baby and Foxy Brown.

The event starts at 6PM (Eastern Time) with Sheba, Baby, featuring Pam Grier as private investigator Sheba Shayne, who returns to her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky to rescue her father’s financially imperiled loan business from mobsters. Sheba, Baby also stars Austin Stoker & Rudy Challenger, and was directed by William Girdler.

Then at 8PM, the fun continues with the seminal action classic Foxy Brown, with the ever-sexy Grier playing nurse ,Foxy Brown,’ a voluptuous black woman that takes revenge on a drug ring for the slaying of her undercover-officer boyfriend. Pam Grier stars with Antonio Fargas and Peter Brown, in a film directed by Jack Hill.

A few weeks ago, filmmaker Warrington Hudlin (House Party) also mentioned to me that the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York City will be hosting a Pam Grier Retrospective in the middle of March, where Ms. Grier will appear in person for a series of interviews between screenings. Any information on that event will probably be found at the Society’s filmlinc.com website. If you have more information on the Lincoln Center event, please share it in comments, below.
