Dimension grabs rights to 13 Beloved remake Angry Little God

FilmBusinessAsia reports that The Weinstein Company’s genre unit Dimension Films has nabbed U.S. distribution rights to Angry Little God, an English-language remake of the Thai film 13 Beloved.

The film 13 Beloved tells the story of an ordinary Bangkok office worker who’s manipulated into ever more violent acts as he participates in a mysterious reality television show in pursuit of a million dollar prize. The original was directed by Chookiat “Matthew” Sakveerakul and produced by Baa-Ram-Ewe. Rights were acquired a year ago by IM Global, the company that will now finance and produce the remake with Daniel Stamm (The Last Exorcism).

Automatik’s Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Little Magic Films’ Kiki Miyake will produce Angry Little God. Jason Blum of Blumhouse (Paranormal Activity) will executive produce alongside Sahamongkolfilm’s Somsak Techaratanaprasert.

In other IM Global-related news, Australians Emily Browning and Xavier Samuel will star in Plush, an erotic thriller that has begun production, with IM Global’s genre label Octane financing. Plush is being directed by Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke and produced by Jason Blum. The film, which stars Cam Gigandet, centers on a female rock star who finds herself on a downward spiral only to fall into the hands of a man who has hidden his dark side.
