First trailer hits the web for the Tom Cruise thriller Jack Reacher

The first international trailer for The Way of the Gun-director Christopher McQuarrie’s upcoming adaption, Jack Reacher, is now online. Unfortunately, it might only make sense if you speak Russian. According to reports, the guy in the hospital bed is talking about the legend that is Jack Recaher is. Then we see Tom Cruise jump into his Super Sport and break a guys arm to prove just how badass he really is.

Tom Cruise plays the title character in this adaptation of the Lee Child novel, One Shot. Jack Reacher is an ex-military investigator who uses his imposing physical size (6’5”, 250lbs) and service experience to track down a sniper. Reacher knows that the man accused of being the shooter is a trained military sniper who never missed a shot. And he’s certain something is not right. Reacher is teamed with a beautiful young defense lawyer, moving closer to the unseen enemy who is pulling the strings. Reacher knows that no two opponents are created equal. This one has come to the heartland from his own kind of hell. And Reacher knows that the only way to take him down is to match his ruthlessness and cunning – and then beat him shot for shot.

Jack Reacher, expected to start a new franchise for Cruise and company, also stars Rosamund Pike, Robert Duvall, David Oyelowo and Richard Jenkins, along with Werner Herzog as the villain. Jack Reacher hits theaters on December 21st, 2012.
