Romantic sci-fi action thriller The Machine gets distributor

Content has nabbed worldwide rights to The Machine, an original romantic sci-fi thriller. Directed by Caradog James (Little White Lies) and currently being cast, The Machine is produced by John Giwa-Amu from Red and Black Films & will be unveiled this week at The Cannes Film Festival.

The Machine, part sci-fi action thriller and part love story, is being described as an edge of your seat ride with killer state-of-the-art effects. The crew include stunts by Peter Pedrero (The Bourne Ultimatum, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, Parts 1 & 2) and casting director Manuel Puro (Moon, Hellboy 2, Heartless).

Producer Giwa-Amu said, “The Machine’s an intelligent, VFX-driven action thriller inspired by Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. We’re putting together a top quality production team and we’ve secured access to an ex-military base near Cardiff for the shoot. The film’s acquisition by Content, who are experts in elevated genre material, is a big thrill for Red and Black Films.”

Director James said, “Our film is the result of two years of research and planning. John and I have put our heart and soul into creating a thrilling sci-fi, full of mind blowing VFX and powerful ideas. The world we’re exploring in the movie is beautiful, authentic and terrifying. We’re incredibly excited to be working with Jamie and his LA and London teams to get our film out to as wide an audience as possible.”

Content’s Carmichael said, “I have been incredibly impressed by Caradog and John’s detailed and visionary work on The Machine, and we believe that together, Content and Red & Black, have a fantastic opportunity to build another UK based action franchise. We expect this to be the first of a substantial ongoing series.”
