Teen Wolf is a sweet film for those of us who grew up with it and can look back at our formative years while watching the movie. But even in the crisp Blu-ray format, the movie looks its age, particularly because of the special effects. Teen Wolf centers on a teenager named Scott (Michael J. Fox) who learns that it doesn’t always take a monstrous transformation to succeed in life. The film plays out as a well-acted, and enjoyable from beginning to end.

Scott is a nobody on the Beavers basketball team, and isn’t very popular around school, either. He’s friends with the affable Rupert ‘Stiles’ Stilinski (Jerry Levine) and Lisa ‘Boof’ Marconi (Susan Ursitti) who wants to be more than just friends with Scott. One day, Scott notices a few changes to his body, including a long growth of hair and improved hearing. It’s only when he finally undergoes a more thorough transformation – instantly growing long nails, pointed ears, and a thick coating of fur – that he realizes there’s something terribly wrong. Teen Wolf is a lovable comedy about a shy teenager with more than a changing voice to contend with.

Teen Wolf worked so well because of its original story line and the perfect cast, which combined to make a truly pleasant film.

The only special features on the Teen Wolf Blu-ray release are the theatrical trailer and a sneak peak of the upcoming MTV Teen Wolf television series.
