Halle Berry confirms role in upcoming “Matrix-like” sci-fi film adaptation by Wachowskis

I was researching the article on The Andy and Lana Wachowski’s upcoming projects (HERE), and according to newsinfilm, while fielding questions after a screening of her latest film, Frankie & Alice, Oscar winner Halle Berry confirmed that she will play a role in Andy and Lana Wachowski’s other new film project, titled Cloud Atlas, which is based on a science fiction novel by David Mitchell.

Apparently Berry told the audience the film is scheduled to shoot next summer, which would sideline The Wachowskis Iraqi War film Cobalt Neural 9.

She went on to describe Cloud Atlas as:

“a really interesting movie from the same sort of creative vein as The Matrix. They have another really amazing idea that will sort of stretch our brains even further.

Tom Hanks and Natalie Portman are also attached to Cloud Atlas, described as a series of six interlocking stories that shifts locations and time to illustrate a predatory theme that exists in human nature. Berry will play Meronym, a surviving member of civilization in a post-apocalyptic future where most of humanity was wiped out by an event called “The Fall.” Hanks may play Dr. Henry Goose, a cynical surgeon to London’s elite and a passing acquaintance of Adam Ewing, which James McAvoy (Wanted) is rumored to be playing. Portman would play Sonmi 451, a genetically-engineered server at a diner in dystopian Korea who rebels against society.
