Stephen King’s Cell will now be a TV miniseries instead of a feature film

In 2006, Eli Roth was attached to collaborate with and direct a film version of Stephen King’s Cell, but then left the project to focus on his own material. Now Fangoria has learned that screenwriter John Harrison is developing the story for a TV miniseries, which the Weinstein Company will be shopping the project to networks.

The plot of the book involves everyone receiving a mobile phone signal that wipes their mind clean, and then rewrites it (with bad shit). Chaos follows as almost everyone is apparently affected, while a few clear-headed survivors attempt to make it through the violent aftermath.

According to the report, Harrison served as assistant director and composer on Creepshow and directed Tales From the Darkside: The Movie, so the material is definitely in his wheelhouse.
