The Twilight Saga: Eclipse to start shooting in August with 30 Days of Night director at the helm

According to a Production Weekly tweet and SciFiWire, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is scheduled to start lensing on August 17th and will film through October 31st at Vancouver Film Studios in that Canadian city. David Slade (30 Days of Night) will direct the sequel from a script by Melissa Rosenberg.

The story follows Bella and Edward after they’ve been reunited, and their forbidden relationship is threatened yet again with an evil vampire seeking her revenge. Bella is forced to choose between her true love for Edward or her friendship with Jacob Black as the struggles between vampires and werewolves continue.

The third chapter in the Twilight saga, based on the Stephenie Meyer series of vampire novels, is due in theaters on June 30, 2010. No word yet on when the fourth chapter, Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, will start shooting or be released. Meanwhile, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, being directed by Chris Weitz, is on schedule to be released on November 20, 2009.
