After three years on the shelf, Fox has resurrected the dormant futuristic sci-fi comedy Used Guys, which originally had Jim Carrey and Ben Stiller attached to star and Jay Roach at the helm, according to Variety.

Used Guys originally revolved around a pair of obsolete male pleasure clones, but according to reports, is being spun into a romantic comedy. Stiller is now in negotiations to star with the duo of Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton (Little Miss Sunshine) behind the camera. Reese Witherspoon has been approached to take the female lead.

Fox halted the project one month prior to the start of filming in 2006, saying ‘Guys’ wouldn’t be ready for its scheduled release date because of its complicated set designs, and would interfere with Carrey and Stiller’s other acting commitments. Apparently the projected budget of $110 million didn’t help the situation either.

Stiller is about to star in Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, due in theaters on May 22nd, and will play a former high school musical star living in the past in The Marc Pease Experience, which is due out later this year.
