The Uninvited comes from the same folks who produced The Ring and Disturbia. It looks to be a more traditional creepfest than the torture-laden horror films of late. That’s not surprising, with the lack-luster box office performance of recent entries like Hostel II. I think it’s about time Hollywood tried some other avenues at getting us to jump out of our seats.
The Uninvited hits theaters on January 30, 2009, and revolves around a girl who returns home to her sister (and best friend) after a stint in a mental hospital, and her recovery is jeopardized thanks to her cruel stepmother, aloof father, and the presence of a ghost in their home. The film is being directed by U.K. filmmakers Charles and Thomas Guard, and stars Elizabeth Banks, Arielle Kebbel, Emily Browning, David Strathairn, Maya Massar, Danny Bristol and John Prowse.
