Mutant Turtles are Back

Kevin Munroe has been tapped to write and direct the new 3D animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles flick for Imagi Services. Producers hope to take advantage of the new momentum the pizza-eating, evil-fighting reptiles have gained since they launched a new syndicated TV series three years ago, according to Variety.

Previous film incarnations of Ninja Turtles included a 1990 Live action film, directed by Steve Barron. The film pitted the giant turtles against Shredder, who struggled to gain power over the world. Of course the ninja turtles did everything, including using their ninjutsu powers, to stop him.

There have been some high profile names attached to this film, most recently John Woo (director of The Killer, Face/Off and the upcoming Spy Hunter).
