Variety reports that 2929 Productions has acquired the remake rights to the 1974 horror thriller Black Christmas (a.k.a. Silent Night, Evil Night) and hired the filmmaking team of James Wong and Glen Morgan (who bought us Final Destination and The One with Jet Li) to make it happen.

The original film is a stark and stylish horror that turns everyone’s favorite time of the year inside out. Olivia Hussey and Margot Kidder starred as part of an ill-fated houseful of sorority sisters celebrating the holiday season. But the party turns deadly when obscene phone calls break the mood and it becomes clear that a psychopath is stalking on the outside of the sorority house.
