Multiple Director Project Signings

Here are some recent (in some cases, announced today) director appointments.

Ain’t It Cool News has confirmed that 20th Century Fox has chosen Matthew Vaughn, the director of Layer Cake, to direct X-Men 3.

Brian DePalma is set to direct The Black Dahlia, which will star Aaron Eckhart.

Jon Avnet has signed on to write and direct Phoenix Pictures’ psychosexual thriller The Understudy, with Mike Medavoy and Arnie Messer producing. The project, based on an original screenplay by Andres Heinz, concerns a young understudy who walks a fine line between make-believe and insanity.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Frank Oz is in negotiations to helm Horrible Bosses for New Line Cinema. The dark comedy revolves around three friends who decide to team up to murder their unbearable bosses.

Finally, The Business of Animation reports that Disney has chosen Bradley Raymond to direct the continuation of the Toy Story franchise, with Toy Story 3.
