Denzel Washington’s The Great Debaters trailer

Directed by and starring Oscar winner Denzel Washington, and produced by Oprah Winfrey, The Great Debaters is based on the true story of professor Melvin B. Tolson, who taught at African-American Wiley College in Texas. In 1935, he inspired students to form the school’s first debate team, which went on to challenge Harvard in the national debating championship.

The Great Debaters will be in theaters on December 25, 2007.
