The Loew’s Jersey will screen three cult classic films centered around various forms of transportation this weekend. The screening series begins tonight at 8:15 PM with motorcycle road trip classic Easy Rider starring Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson, which was directed by Dennis Hopper in 1969. Tomorrow the series continues at 6 PM with the cult comedy classic Airplane, starring Robert Hays, Julie Hagerty, Leslie Nielsen, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Peter Graves and Robert Stack. Airplane was directed by David Zucker, Jerry Zucker and Jim Abrahams in 1980.
The series tops off with an 8 PM screening of one of my personal favorite New York City-set movies, The Taking of Pelham One Two Three, the 1974 New York City subway crime thriller directed by Jersey City native Joseph Sargent. Taking of Pelham One Two Three stars Walter Matthau, Robert Shaw, Martin Balsam and Jerry Stiller.
