Benefit screening of Steven Soderbergh classic satire Schizopolis coming with director attending

Steven Soderbergh, acclaimed director behind Traffic, Ocean’s Eleven, and Sex, Lies and Videotape, will host a rare screening of his mind-bending satire Schizopolis, at the IFC Center in the West Village, New York City. The screening will be part of a special benefit event celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Slamdance Film Festival (where Schizopolis originally premiered in 1996). The film will be followed by a Q&A with Soderbergh that will be moderated by journalist Anthony Kaufman, along with a reception with the director and Slamdance programmers, which is open to all ticketholders.

Schizopolis revolves around Fletcher Munson (played by Soderbergh himself), a lethargic, passive worker for a Scientology-like self-help corporation called Eventualism, who, after the death of a colleague, is promoted to the job of writing speeches for T. Azimuth Schwitters (Mike Malone), the founder and head of the group. He uses this as an excuse to be emotionally and romantically distant from his wife (Betsy Brantley), who, he discovers, is having an affair with his double, a dentist named Dr. Jeffrey Korchek (also Soderbergh).
