Steampunk epic Riese circling TV debut

Riese Productions announced that Riese: Kingdom Falling is online now for US audiences on Syfy.com and is also available via Sony’s PS3, Microsoft’s Xbox and Amazon. According to the company, the Riese series is also being considered for television development.

Narrated by Sanctuary’s Amanda Tapping, the 10-part series stars Christine Chatelain (The Collector); Sharon Taylor (Stargate: Atlantis), Ben Cotton (Harper’s Island), Allison Mack (Smallville), Ryan Robbins (Caprica), Patrick Gilmore (Stargate: Universe), Peter Kelamis (Stargate: Universe), Alessandro Juliani (Battlestar Galactica), and Emilie Ullerup (Sanctuary). The project was conceived by Ryan Copple & Kaleena Kiff, and produced by Galen Fletcher & Nicholas Humphries.

Riese: Kingdom Falling, which was shot in Vancouver, British Columbia, launched on YouTube in November 2009 and was viewed 1.4 million times, before being removed by distributor Fireworks International. The web production also won the Streamy Award for Best Cinematography in a Web Series, and received three additional nominations, including Best Sound Design, Best Foreign Series and Art Direction.

In addition, the creators of Riese: Kingdom Falling have teamed up with Vancouver based Genius Factor Games to release an iPhone game. Available now, the virtual RPG card battle game offers series fans the chance to utilize alternative media to further enhance the existing story and remain immersed in the haunting world of Riese. It also features the voice of web pioneer and trail blazer Felicia Day (The Guild, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog).
