Wolfgang Petersen (Troy, Air Force One, The Perfect Storm) developing a live-action feature film version of the book and anime film Paprika, according to Moviehole.

According to the report, the director is hard at work to bring the acclaimed novel to the big screen.

The original 1993 novel by Yasutaka Tsutsui, tells the story of a machine that allows therapists to enter their patient’s dreams. After being stolen, all hell breaks loose, and a young female therapist named Paprika is the only person with the means to stop it.

A 2006 anime version of Paprika was directed by Satoshi Kon, with animation work done by Madhouse, one of the studios behind the animated short films of the recently released Batman: Gotham Knight.
