Hugh Jackman heading to Japan for next Wolverine, which will be based on Frank Miller origin tale

Hugh Jackman revealed to MTV at the Teen Choice Awards over the weekend that development on the follow-up to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which was critically blasted but financially successful, is now well underway. The actor/producer also confirmed previously rumored intentions to have the next film set largely in Japan, and that the story-line will be based on the acclaimed 1982 four-issue Wolverine miniseries, co-written by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont. That origin story sees Logan heading East to learn philosophy and fighting styles.

“That’s a movie I’ve longed to make from the beginning…I think the fans love that saga, and it’s my favorite, so that’s where we’re heading,” said Jackman.
