Concept art from David Fincher-produced The Goon

I thought I’d share some really beautiful conceptual art from SlashFilm, for a computer-animated film based on the Eric Powell comic book The Goon. After seeing these, I’m not sure which film I’m looking forward to more.

The upcoming Dark Horse Comics production is being animated by Blur Studios – the same folks that are working on the upcoming Heavy Metal movie, with ‘Benjamin Button’ director David Fincher steering. There’s no word yet, as to whether Fincher will also direct The Goon, however, he is attached to co-direct a segment of the Heavy Metal project, along with Kevin Eastman (co-creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Gore Verbinski, Zack Snyder and Tim Miller – who is directing the upcoming animated sci-fi epic Rockfish, with Vin Diesel attached to voice.

The original comic first published in 1999 and follows a brawler who acts as a henchman and enforcer for a mob boss, who along with sidekick Franky gets tangled up with evil zombie gangs.
