Joss Whedon’s new horror film gets cast

Actors Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford are in talks to appear in Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard’s mysterious horror film The Cabin in the Woods, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

To be exact, Jenkins has already signed on the dotted line, while Whitford is in final negotiations to star in the MGM/UA horror project, which was written by Whedon and Goddard. Goddard is also attached to helm the upcoming films, with Whedon producing. Whedon says the casting signals that, while the film is a classic horror genre project, “it isn’t one you’ve seen before.”

Like Cloverfield, also written by Goddard, Cabin in the Woods provides a new twist on a classic scenario, the young-people-stranded-in-the-woods setup. Reports are that Jenkins and Whitford will play white-collar co-workers with a mysterious connection to the cabin.

The film is currently scheduled for a spring 2009 shoot, and looks to hit theaters on February 5th 2010.
