Shane Black to direct espionage thriller Cold Warrior

Variety reports that Shane Black will direct Universal Pictures’ espionage film Cold Warrior. The movie is based on a script by Chuck Mondry, and will follow a spy from the Cold War era who comes out of retirement to team with a young agent to confront a domestic terrorism threat orchestrated by Russia.

Black previously wrote and directed Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, but is best known for writing the Lethal Weapon films, along with The Last Boy Scout, Last Action Hero, The Long Kiss Goodnight and The Monster Squad. He also appeared as Hawkins in the Arnold Schwarzenegger action film Predator (pictured).
