French horror Martyrs film trailer |

Martyrs certainly seems to be in the tradition of Hostel, and has that stylish and twisted sense of relationships, as in Alexandre Aja’s French horror High Tension. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, in May, and has had screenings at various European fests, and has just been released in France.

Martyrs revolves around a young woman’s quest for revenge against the people who kidnapped and tormented her as a child.

The film stars Morjana Alaoui, Mylene Jampanoi, Catherine Begin, Robert Toupin, Patricia Tulasne, Juliette Gosselin and Xavier Dolan-Tadros, and was written and directed by Pascal Laugier, who as helmed the 2004 film House of Voices.
