Film Fetish trivia:
David Fincher had originally scheduled to direct the Black Dahlia.

Mark Wahlberg had initially signed to play Lee
Blanchard, but scheduling conflicts
with The Brazilian Job prevented it.

Ellroy’s book was based partly on the true story
of the murder of Elizabeth Short, who was an aspiring actress
that moved to Hollywood in the late 1940s from
Massachusetts. She disappeared sometime during
January 1947. On January 15, 1947 her
mutilated body was found in an empty lot
in South Central Los Angeles. Her murderer was never
identified.
