According to the Reporter, Quentin Tarantino has signed to direct the season-finale episode of CBS’ CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Tarantino also came up with an original story idea for the episode, which is expected to shoot in early April and air May 19, according to the show’s executive producer Carol Mendelsohn.

Series creator and executive producer Anthony Zuiker learned Tarantino had long been a fan of the stylish drama when he bumped into him at an awards show during CSI’s first season. The magazine goes on to say they have pursued QT to direct an episode for some time, and after members of the show’s crew ran into Tarantino a few weeks ago while the show was doing some location shooting in Las Vegas, the stars convinced him to helm the show’s fifth-season closer, according to Mendelsohn.

The story will involve a plot that finds one of the key members of the CSI team in serious jeopardy. The teleplay will be written by Mendelsohn, Zuiker and Naren Shankar.

Tarantin’s other television offerings include directing a 1995 episode of ER and appearing as a guest star on Alias in 2002 and last year.
