More on James Cameron’s Avatar

According to the Hollywood North Report, Joel Moore (Dodgeball) has been all but confirmed for a lead inJames Cameron’s upcoming return to the big screen; the science fiction epic Avatar.

According to the story, in the future, Jake, a paraplegic war veteran is brought to another planet named Pandora, which is inhabited by the Na’vi, a race with their own language and culture. On Pandora, humans find themselves at odds with each other and the local culture.

The film is due in 2008.

Avatar, also known as Project 880, which will make extensive use of cutting-edge motion-capture technology Cameron picked up while working on a series of IMAX features, including a digital-3D camera system developed by Vince Pace and virtual production studio developed by Robert Legato that will also be used on the anime-inspired film Battle Angel,is targeting a 2009 release.

According to information I found on hsx.com, Avatar was going to be the first feature film to use a cast of completely CGI actors. Technology has finally caught up with Cameron to realize his dream. He first wants to create a multi-player online game, then shoot the theatrical film in that universe.
