Expedition Africa

Survivor meets Indiana Jones in Expedition Africa – a new, real-life adventure series from Mark Burnett, the father of modern day reality-adventure television. The History Channel released the complete heart-pounding series in a special multi-disc set on DVD and Blu-ray this week, and to celebrate the release, FilmFetish is giving away one each of the DVD and Blu-ray editions for readers to enjoy.

In order to be entered into the random drawing for your free copy of Expedition Africa, you must also:

  • Reply to this post, and name your favorite “road” movie (a movie that has some beautiful slice of the world as its backdrop). Please indicate your preference for the Blu-ray or DVD edition set, or indicate “EITHER”, if you have play-back capabilities for both.

I’ll be running this contest through next Friday, November 6, 2009.

From Executive Producer Mark Burnett (Survivor, The Apprentice) comes Expedition Africa – one of the biggest History events of all time – which takes viewers on an adventure of epic proportions as four renowned explorers attempt to follow the historic journey of Henry Morton Stanley and his search for the “lost” Dr. David Livingstone in the heart of Africa.

Now, History brings this adventure back to life in the 21st century. The twist? These modern-day explorers will have to complete the mission with only a compass, maps and Stanley’s journals from the original undertaking. Can these modern-day adventurers survive the harsh and unforgiving African environment and succeed with nothing more than tools from the past? The explorers face dehydration, deadly animals, disease and each other, knowing that any step could be their last.

Available in both SD and Blu-ray, this 3-disc set, a true journey through the heart of Africa shot in glorious HD, includes all eight heart-pounding episodes of the phenomenal adventure series and over 40 minutes of bonus features, including the behind-the-Scenes documentary Expedition Africa: The Making of History, as well as additional footage.

Run Time: 6 hours and 16 minutes, plus extras
Format: Blu-Ray/2 Discs; DVD/3 Discs
DVD/Blu-ray Release Date: October 27, 2009
