Three Times (a.k.a. Zui hao de shi guang) is a romance told in three parts. The film explores expressions of love in three distinct eras of Taiwanese history: 1966, 1911 and 2005. Actress Shu Qi (Millennium Mambo) and Chang Chen (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) star in all three chapters of the film, going from shy pool-hall flirts to traditionally robed courtesan and diplomat and finally tech-savvy modern lovers, all to staggering emotional effect.
The film was directed by Hsiao-hsien Hou, whose previous work, includes Millennium Mambo, Flowers of Shanghai and The Puppetmaster. Three Times is currently in limited release in the U.S.
